handmade (^____^)

This week I got the best surprise in the mail. My lovely auntie sent one of her beautiful quilts in the mail as a wedding present. I've always drooled over her beautiful handmade quilts, but honestly never thought I would ever own one. My grandma (my mum and aunt's mother) used to make quilts for her grandkids' wedding before she passed. So I just never expected to get a handmade quilt in my lifetime. We used to spend quite a bit of time at my auntie's farm when I was little and growing up, and I adore her. So, to receive this beautiful quilt from her got me a little teary eyed when I opened the package. It even smelt like her house!! Things are so precious when you least expect them. (^___^) Now at night when I'm worrying about life's stupid problems, I get a cup of tea, a book and curl up in this quilt full of love.

So the boy and I got hitched. Yeah, it took us 10 yrs, but we finally got old enough that just dating wasn't as cute anymore!! :) haha. We eloped with our parents to Salt Spring Island (one of the larger Gulf Islands between Vancouver and Vancouver Island) and had an intimate and romantic little ceremony. It was pretty damn near perfect and to all yous who can't do a big party or aren't really into the whole wedding thing, this I recommend! We hired a justice of the peace, a photographer, picked up some daffodils from a roadside farm and made it happen. My adorable dress is from an etsy shop (www.amandaarcher.etsy.com), I added a raw silk belt to it and Josh picked up his outfit the week before and we spent 5 days on the island. It wasn't long enough, but it was perfect and awesome. Checked out the Salt Spring Island Cheese (www.saltspringcheese.com), went to some wineries (www.garryoakswine.com, www.saltspringvineyards.com), visited the Saturday Market, and watched the sun set over ocean. Sigh, fuzzy, happy hearts over here. :)

shopping...

So I meant to post this a long time ago, but got a little distracted. Here's my lamp post!! (ha-ha) I was super excited when I finally found some lampshades to go with my favorite lamps. They're mustard yellow and velour lampshades. Delish. Yes, they're from ikea, but sometimes, ikea is fabulous. (okay, i sometimes, i really love ikea products). I aquired these amazing lamps from a co-worker years ago but never got proper shades for them! Now they're all grown up. And I had to get those cute lil cushions to sit on my couch. And the cute lil squirrel salt and pepper shakers? (hiding at the base of the lamp) A pressie from the boy last christmas. smiles (someone is super awesome)

Portobello Market

Heeey All!! I just had to be a nerd and report I saw Tegan and or Sara shoping at Portobello West Market yesterday. The shoppers were slow (but it's that time o' year, and this recession is a beeech), but I kinda peeed my pants when I saw her with I think was her mumma. Yay! Unfortunately, my stuff wasn't cool enough for her to check out. I guess you can't wear plushies on stage very well. (but you could try, my mouse has velcro you know....)

January walks

Vancouver may be gray and rainy this time of year, but there is something soo charming about it. This past weekend, I took a walk in the fog at the park (Stanely) and it felt super cool. Like a pegasus was going to fly out of the forest. For reals. It was quite magical. More people should try to enjoy these foggy days. Growing up in -30ºC and snow I guess makes me really appreciate +1ºC and fog. I wish I had time for 3-4 hour walks everyday. Things would be so much sweeter. Maybe once a week. I could handle that. Here's to 2009 and more walks. I think I need a dog. I guess I could walk my boyfriend. Wait, that sounds rude. What I mean is, he really likes walks... and fetching sticks. [^___^]

Shop Cocoon!

Hello lovlies!! Just wanted to give an update on Lemonade's new adventure. We've joined the sweet little collective shop of Shop Cocoon. It's a collective shop of local Vancouver designers where we get to help out man the store and get full profits. It's an adorable collection of amazing jewelry, apparel, handbags, shoes, greeting cards and Lemonade plushies (we're the first plush goodies in the store). So if you're local or visiting Vancouver, come down and check it out. The fun part for the customers is that you get to deal with the designers and request special items and work with any of the specific designers for something special. It's quite fun really. Here are some pics of the Lemonade goodies hanging out in the store (and some special purses that are available in the shop).

Anyhoo, here is the info you need to find it!
